Taking Livalo®? There is a lower cost option

If you are taking Livalo (pitavastatin) tablets you may be paying too much. Branded products can be expensive, and Livalo is no exception.

Livalo Cost Increase

The cost of Livalo has continued to increase over the years. From 2013 to 2018 the cash-pay price increased from ~$400 to over $800 for a 90-day prescription. Today, the cost for Livalo is around $1,117 for a supply of 90 tablets, depending on the pharmacy you visit.

Unfortunately, Livalo, even with a manufacturer coupon, is so expensive that many people are having to use older statins.

There is now a lower-cost option.

Livalo vs. Zypitamag

Zypitamag (pitavastatin) is a pharmaceutical alternative to Livalo. It became available in the U.S. in 2017.

Zypitamag contains the same active molecule as Livalo, pitavastatin. The difference between Livalo and Zypitamag comes in the form of salt; Livalo contains calcium, whereas Zypitamag contains magnesium.

While it’s not generic, Zypitamag is considered bioequivalent to Livalo (see the Livalo vs. Zypitamag bioequivalence studies). This means that you should see the same results with both Zypitamag and Livalo if taken in the same way.

An Affordable Livalo Alternative – Zypitamag

Many branded products may not be affordable for patients, as they have limited coverage from their insurance plans and as a result, high out-of-pocket costs.

Zypitamag is one exception. It is priced affordably for people regardless of their insurance coverage. The cost for uninsured patients is just over $1.15 a day*. You can find this great price exclusively at Marley Drug pharmacy, a mail-order pharmacy located in North Carolina that can ship nationwide.

See how you can access a Livalo (pitavastatin) alternative, Zypitamag (pitavastatin), for just $1.15 per day.
