What is Vaniqa Cream?

Vaniqa (eflornithine hydrochloride 13.9%) is an FDA-approved topical treatment for unwanted facial hair in women. Women with this condition, such as facial hirsutism or polycystic ovarian syndrome, will have an abnormal/excessive hair growth pattern on their faces.

Vaniqa suppresses the growth of hair where it is applied by interfering with a chemical in hair follicles beneath your skin.

How does Vaniqa work?

Vaniqa prevents a specific enzyme required for hair growth on your skin. Your hair may become finer and lighter as a result of this action, which leads to slower hair growth.

How to Apply Vaniqa Cream

Vaniqa Cream should be applied thinly and thoroughly rubbed into the afflicted areas of your face and the surrounding areas beneath your chin. This medication may be applied twice daily, at least 8 hours apart, or as your doctor instructs. Wait at least 4 hours before washing the treated area.

This medication may only be applied topically on your skin. Do not apply this medication for at least 5 minutes after hair removal (i.e. plucking/shaving). Do not apply to open wounds, windburned, dry, chapped, or irritated skin. Before applying makeup, moisturizers, or sunscreen to the treated regions, let Vaniqa completely dry.
